Our lessons are taught in accordance with Canadian Yachting Association standards by fully certified instructors.
Regattas & Parental Support:
The Racing and Recreational streams both have different demands on the students, but also on the parents. These are important points to consider when deciding what to sign up for.
With the Recreational stream, sailors will not be attending any traveling regattas. This means that the children will simply have to be picked up and dropped off at the Waeg around the same time each day. No additional transportation of children or equipment is required.
With the Racing stream, sailors will be attending traveling regattas. The amount of involvement, and the distance of travel depends on the class that the child is enrolled in. However, there will certainly be days that the children will be sailing out of other locations. This includes both weekdays and weekends. Locations may include Bedford Basin, St. Margaret’s Bay, Chester, etc. This is a necessary aspect of the program, and one that is usually the highlight of the sailor’s summers. However, to make this happen, parental support is absolutely necessary. This includes carpooling and transportation of equipment. We are not responsible for arranging drives to and from the various venues. Also, please be aware that when outside of the Waeg, pickup and drop-off times may vary. We will supply more information as the summer gets closer, but please consider the level of commitment that you and your child can provide.
