Team Leaders
Executive Chef Luis Clavel leads the Atlantica Hotel Halifax culinary team with passion, drive and undeniable talent. He is locally trained through the NSCC culinary program and has been honing his skills in a variety of hotels and restaurants for over a decade. Chef Clavel’s artistic style unites fresh, local ingredients with innovative presentation and texture combinations. In addition to being twice-named Nova Scotia Chef of the Year, he also proudly represents Nova Scotia and Canada on the national and international scene. Chef Clavel looks forward to working with his talented team members to truly wow members and guests at the Waegwoltic Club.
Tom Griffin, Food & Beverage Manager at Atlantica Hotel Halifax oversees the property’s restaurant and lounge, in-room dining and banquet department. Originally from Newfoundland, Tom has called Halifax home ever since moving here to attend Saint Mary’s University. Upon graduation Tom pursued his interest in the hospitality industry and has been a team leader in several downtown properties over the years. His knowledge, expertise and attention to detail have made him excel at what he does. Tom has been an important member of the hotel’s leadership team for close to ten years; he and his well-trained staff are excited to provide Waegwoltic Club members with Atlantica’s commitment to quality and service.
Mark White has joined the Atlantica Hotel Halifax team to take the reigns as Manager of Food & Beverage services at the Waegwoltic Club. Mark is a graduate of the NSCC Hospitality and Tourism program at the Pictou Campus, where he was awarded the County Tourism Ambassador of the Year Award for his work with the Under 17 World Hockey Championships held there in 2000-2001. Since graduation Mark has been gaining experience and building his skill set at several major hotel chains, as well as most recently working for the Berkeley Retirement Community. He looks forward to representing and upholding the Atlantica quality of service at the Waegwoltic Club, and to the challenges of a new and exciting position.
