Swimming

The Waegwoltic Club has three outdoor saltwater pools, two of which are heated.  The Main Pool, commonly known to members as the “Big Pool”, is located adjacent to the clubhouse.  This pool is heated and can reach temperatures of 85 degrees Fahrenheit in the warm summer months.  The deep end of the Main Pool is 12 feet deep and equipped with a spring diving board.  In the shallow end of the pool there are always two 25 meter lanes present for lane swimmers and a generous open area for families and adults to enjoy.  The pool is open for swimming and guarded from 6:00 am - 10:30 pm seven days a week.  For additional information on swimming times, please see the Pool Schedule.

The Bloomingdale, our smallest pool at the Waeg, is located below the Multi Purpose Building. The Bloomingdale is also heated and reaches temperatures in the high eighties during the summer.  This pool is enjoyed by adults and families.

The Lido is our biggest pool located directly beside the Northwest Arm.  This pool is not heated throughout the summer and therefore provides a refreshing alternative.  The Lido is equipped with two slides and a spring diving board.  A sun deck surrounds the pool and is a great place for families to enjoy the sun.  The Lido was created with a slope so that it goes from very shallow to very deep.  There is a sectioned off area called the “Little Lido” where it is very shallow.  This is an area where infants and toddlers gather to enjoy the water.  A large sandbox with running water taps is located beside the Lido and provides a great place for families to gather and play together.

The Head Aquatics Coordinator this year is Jake Smith, who staffs 24 other qualified instructor/guards.  Swimming sessions are offered Monday to Friday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.  The adult change rooms (located underneath the large pool) are NOT for children, even if the children are with a parent/guardian, please use the changing rooms by the Lido or on th Main Pool deck if you have children.
