Tennis Rules
Waegwoltic Tennis RulesCourt Time and Booking
1. There will be no specific courts for singles play, doubles play, adults, juniors or parent child combinations. Doubles groups will not be able to bump singles players from their court. Only one member of the singles or doubles group needs to be present when booking a court; however, all players must be on the property at the time of booking.
2. At all times members must book (sign-up) for use of the courts. Booked players can take off members who have not booked a court at any time.
3. All courts can be booked by adult members (16 years of age and over) for one hour for either singles or doubles play. (Minimum of two players / maximum of four players per court)
4. Any junior player not able to play tennis (as determined by the Waegwoltic Tennis staff) may be asked to play on the hard courts until their skills improve.
5. Juniors (15 years and under) can book all courts for one half hour at any time unless they are at an exceptional level (which will be determined by the tennis staff). The exceptional juniors will be allowed to play for 1 hour.
6. If there is a junior on the court, regardless of whom they are playing with, they are limited to booking the court for a half hour at a time. (Lesson exceptions)
7. Court booking times will be recorded as the time closest to the next 5 minute.
8. Once the members’ court time is expired, they are free to rebook another time period, up to one hour. If they are not being taken off at the end of their court time, they can continue until other members replace them. Members’ cannot rebook a court time until their original time has expired.
Pre-Booking Court Time
9. Same-day pre-booking, by call in or booking directly at the tennis hut, will be available for courts 3 and 4 only. Booking starts at 8:00 a.m. and continues until 9:00 p.m. Players must check in 5 minutes before the booking time. If the players have not shown up by the booking time, the court then becomes a regular court, available for booking by other members.
10. Court cancellation must be done not less than two hours before the pre-booked time, or it will be considered a missed booking.
11. Any member missing their pre-booked time twice throughout the season will lose pre-booking privileges.
12. No member can have more than one court booked at one time. If a member books and plays on any court before their pre-booked time on court 3 or 4 they will then forfeit their pre-booked time. This cancellation of their pre-booked time will be considered a missed booking if done less than two hours before the pre-booked time. Members can rebook on court 3 or 4 once they are finished playing for their booked time.
Tennis Dress Code
13. The Tennis Staff will inspect all shoes and shoes appropriate for play on the soft courts will be tagged. Members without shoe tags will be restricted to booking the hard courts only.
14. All tennis players must wear proper “tennis attire.” All shoes and clothing should be checked by both the Waegwoltic Tennis Staff to ensure proper use of the facilities. For further clarification, members should check with the tennis staff. The tennis staff has been requested to monitor suitable tennis clothing and footwear.
